On a recent visit to Cavan, we found it hard to locate restaurants (especially on a Sunday evening), but were lucky to find the Kam Wok Asian Restaurant in Cavan town.

The restaurant is located up a stairs and we were welcomed at the door by staff. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, nice Chinese touches here and there.

The Food:
Starters : The starters are large and very nicely presented and I could easily have had a second round of starters, it was so tasty. (Chose crispy won ton)

Mains : I chose a seafood selection. The course came sizzling in a pot, which I like, and was in a chinese wine sauce. Amazing flavour and the seafood was plentyful and varied.

The Service
Apart from the free Prawn Crackers which is always a nice touch – The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful if they tried. Not simply, “How was your meal” but we actually had nice conversations with the staff between courses.

Overall
Cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. I like my Chinese food and this was top notch.
I doubt I will be in Cavan in the near future, but if I am, I will be returning.

Just back from a week in Lanzarote, thought it might be good for the health to get away. Lanzarote is definitely the best of all the Canary Islands, having been to Gran Canaria and Tenerife previously. If you are going I have listed a fre recommendations for you.

Trips & Excustions : Ignore your Travel Rep and go with Last Minute Travel. Last Minute Travel have offices all oevr Puerto del Carmen and we went on 2 trips with them, The Grand Island Tour (€40 ea) and Playa Blanca Markets (€7 ea).
All trips were excellent and had a very knowledgeable guides who spoke multiple languages

Food : Lani’s have many restaurants in Puerto Del Carmen and other areas. Their restaurants are very well run and the food is great – not to be missed! Also, if you are near the Fariones hotel, the New World Chinese Restaurant is amazing and again should be experienced, if only for the excellent Dim Sum selection.

Electrical & Technology items : You can be ripped off in some stores by people who will try sell you non-branded goods or items which fail to work when you get home. I got excellent services from Monty in PhotoVision (Avda de las Playas, 14 local 1, 35510, Puerto del Carmen) , one of the stores on the sea-front. He has lots of Irish customers and even deals with a few FairCity celebrities (I was shown photos as proof and a huge customer book) – so I bought a few iPod things there and it only cost me €20 for the attachments I bought.
